How International Roaming Works

In order to use your GSM device while traveling outside of the U.S., the device must be compatible with a network frequency available in the country you are visiting. International carriers utilize the frequencies of 900 mHz and 1800 mHz. Domestic carriers utilize the frequencies of 850 mHz and 1900 mHz. To ensure your service will work, please contact Customer Care at 1-888-391-3925 before traveling abroad as certain restrictions apply.

While roaming internationally, calls that go to your voice mail (when phone is turned on, busy or not answered) will incur twice the per minute rate.

Choosing Your Device

For the best experience, we recommend using a Quad Band GSM phone for traveling overseas. If you currently do not have a multi-band device, take a moment to look at Cincinnati Bell's selection of worldwide phones.

International Coverage Maps

To find coverage maps and frequency band information for Cincinnati Bell Wireless' international roaming partners, please visit GSM World. New CBW roaming partners may take 7-10 days to post to GSM World. Please note that coverage maps may vary versus actual coverage and are affected by factors such as terrain, weather, foliage, buildings and other construction as well as signal strength or customer equipment. Coverage shown may be altered at any time without notice.

Eligible subscribers with less than 30 days of service will have a spending limit of $100 over their rate plan's monthly service fee, including international LD plus any roaming or minute overage charges. If thislimit is exceeded, CBW may suspend service without prior notice. FULL PAYMENT must be made before service may be restored.

Voicemail: If your phone is turned on and a caller leaves you a voicemail, then you will incur usage charges of $1.99/minute for the duration of the voicemail message. If the caller leaves a voice mail message while your Cincinnati Bell device is powered off, no usage charges are incurred. Retrieving messages from your Cincinnati Bell Wireless voice mail box also incurs usage charges of $1.99/minute.

CBW World Service is available to new and existing Cincinnati Bell Wireless subscribers. To qualify for CBW World Service, Subscriber must meet certain credit criteria, and may not have been suspended for Non-Payment within the last 6 months. Please call customer care at 1-888-391-3925 or visit a store near you to see if you qualify for International service.

CBW offers international roaming service to many frequently traveled countries through our GSM international roaming partners. International service is only available on GSM Next Generation phones capable of working on the international frequencies 900 MHz and 1800 MHz. Quad-band devices are recommended for better coverage.

International roaming incurs voice usage rates of $1.99/minute. In some instances, long distance charges may apply. Standard text messaging rates apply. From time to time, a foreign network operator will send international long distance toll charges as a separate record. Cincinnati Bell passes these toll charges to the customer just as we would pass through any other type of toll charge. In these instances, the customer may receive a long distance charge above and beyond the $1.99/minute flat rate.
