WLNP or Wireless Local Number Portability is the ability to switch your wireless service provider and keep the same wireless number. Implementation date for WLNP is November 24, 2003.
Generally, no. your local calling area will be the local calling area provided by your new wireless service provider. Generally, wireless service providers provide larger local calling areas for calls you originate than those provided by home phone service providers. Thus, your local calling area is likely to be bigger if you change from home phone service to wireless service. However, some areas that are local calls from your home phone service provider could be long distance calls with your wireless service provider. You should verify that the areas that are important to you for local calling are included as local calls by your provider of choice.
No. Once the number has been approved for transfer, the old number and account will automatically be deactivated.

wireless service provider. If you do, your number will no longer be
available to bring to Cincinnati Bell Wireless.

Yes. You will be responsible for paying all applicable fees to your current provider until the WLNP process has been completed. Additionally, if you are subject to a subscriber agreement, you may be obligated to pay early termination fees to your current provider.
If you are moving outside of the local geographic area, you will not be able to take your phone number with you and activate it as a local phone number.
No, you will need to purchase Cincinnati Bell Wireless equipment. (even if the model number is one that Cincinnati Bell Wireless supports, it will be locked to the other wireless service provider's network, and will not be usable on Cincinnati Bell Wireless's network).

The regulations for home service provisions currently allow up to 4 business days to complete a porting request.
Usually not. For a person calling you, it will look like you did not move. If a person could call you as a local call at your home phone number, the person should continue to be able to call you toll free if you move that number to a wireless provider. Similarly, customers who previously called you as a toll call will continue to call you as a toll call. Remember, the calls you receive will count toward your wireless minutes total. If you receive a lot of calls, it may be cheaper to maintain your home phone service rather than convert to wireless.
For home phone to wireless porting - Yes, with the Cincinnati Bell service area. For wireless to home phone porting - No, ports must remain within the Cincinnati Bell service areas only.
